Job Description
Childhood Cancer Society (CCS) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of children affected by cancer and their families. With a focus on fundraising, awareness, and community engagement, CCS organizes impactful events and initiatives to support research, provide resources, and foster hope for young cancer warriors. The society operates primarily through remote and hybrid work models, with occasional in-person event opportunities in New Jersey and Florida. This flexible, part-time, semester-based position is perfectly suited for MBA candidates, graduate business students, and emerging leaders seeking real-world leadership experience in a meaningful cause.
The Project Manager role at CCS is a hands-on leadership position that offers exceptional exposure to nonprofit operations and strategic project management. Under the direct guidance of the Founder/CEO and Chief Marketing Officer, the Project Manager will play a crucial role in cross-functional initiatives spanning fundraising, donor relations, marketing, operations, partnerships, and event execution. This role demands proactive management of strategic deliverables, improvement of organizational workflows, and coordination of multiple stakeholders to drive key projects to successful completion. It is tailored for individuals eager to refine their leadership potential, develop a robust portfolio of accomplishments, and gain firsthand experience with executive-level decision-making. The position also provides a unique opportunity to lead high-impact fundraising events such as "Adventure Ted Tees Off Against Childhood Cancer" at Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck and the "Mayor and First Lady of Saddle River’s Benefit Dinner 2026" at Ridgewood Country Club.
In addition to managing projects, the Project Manager will contribute to sponsor acquisition strategies and foster relationships critical to the society's growth. Responsibilities will extend to analyzing operational challenges, proposing scalable solutions, and enhancing communication systems to streamline project tracking. The role emphasizes collaboration with senior leadership and cross-departmental teams, enabling the Project Manager to influence organizational efficiency and impact. This role is not only an opportunity to advance career skills but also to support a powerful mission that touches countless lives.
Candidates stepping into this position can expect comprehensive mentorship from nonprofit executives, tangible leadership experience with measurable outcomes, and exposure to key areas such as business operations, strategic partnerships, event management, donor psychology, and nonprofit scaling. Successful completion of responsibilities will be recognized with a recommendation letter from the CEO. This engaging and flexible role is designed for motivated individuals ready to make a difference while gaining valuable professional development.
