Job Description
Childhood Cancer Society (CCS) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to supporting children with cancer and their families. Founded with a mission to improve the lives of young patients battling cancer, CCS operates through a combination of fundraising initiatives, community outreach, and strategic partnerships. The organization is actively engaged in organizing events and programs aimed at raising awareness and providing financial assistance and emotional support to children and families affected by childhood cancer. CCS prides itself on its collaborative approach, bringing together passionate professionals and volunteers who drive impactful projects that make a real difference in the community.
This part-time, semester-based Project Manager role offers a unique and flexible remote and hybrid work arrangement with opportunities to participate in events based in New Jersey and Florida. This position is ideal for MBA candidates, graduate business students, and emerging leaders seeking to gain hands-on leadership experience and directly support the organization's executive-level initiatives. Compensation details and schedules are designed to accommodate academic commitments while providing meaningful professional exposure.
The Project Manager will report directly to the leadership team, including the Founder/CEO and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), allowing for an immersive management experience with close executive mentorship. In this capacity, the individual will be entrusted with overseeing cross-functional projects spanning fundraising, operations, marketing, partnerships, and extensive event production. The focus lies in improving operational efficiency, driving strategic deliverables, and scaling key initiatives to maximize the organization's impact.
Responsibilities encompass managing diverse projects, coordinating timelines, deliverables, and accountability across various departments, and refining workflows to enhance overall organizational productivity. The role also includes a critical sponsor acquisition component and relationship management duties to support the financial underpinnings of major fundraising events. Notable upcoming events include Adventure Ted Tees Off Against Childhood Cancer held at Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck and the Mayor & First Lady of Saddle River's Benefit Dinner in 2026 at Ridgewood Country Club.
The Project Manager will work alongside C-suite executives as well as senior leadership to tackle operational bottlenecks, propose scalable solutions, and lead internal communications and project tracking systems. This opportunity stands out as a comprehensive learning environment to build a strategic portfolio enriched by exposure to nonprofit scaling, donor psychology, and executive decision-making processes.
Participants will gain invaluable mentorship, real-world project ownership, and a robust understanding of business operations, strategic partnerships, and event management. Successful completion of management objectives can also result in a recommendation letter from CEO Tommy Head, further enhancing professional credentials post-tenure. This role not only fosters leadership and organizational development skills but also nurtures a passion for nonprofit leadership and social impact.
