Job Description

Our client is a thriving commercial contractor based in Indianapolis, Indiana, known for delivering exceptional commercial construction services with a focus on retail, restaurant, light commercial, and tenant improvement projects. Established just over five years ago, this rapidly growing company prides itself on maintaining a family-oriented, non-corporate work environment, fostering strong client relationships while adapting to fast-paced project demands. The company is distinguished for its close-knit team culture, offering employees flexibility, autonomy, and direct access to leadership — an appealing environment for professionals who enjoy making meaningful contributions and growing alongside an expanding organization. With a small but highly skilled team of project managers, superintendents, and support staff, the contractor emphasizes quality craftsmanship, efficiency, and a hands-on approach in every project they undertake.

The role offered is a permanent position based in Indianapolis, featuring a competitive annual salary ranging from $110,000 to $120,000, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. This Project Manager role provides a unique opportunity for someone with 5 to 10 years of commercial construction experience to lead light commercial and retail builds from inception to completion. The candidate will be responsible for managing projects within a strong local pipeline with project values ranging from $3 million to over $5 million. A key aspect of the job involves working directly with company leadership as they continue to expand the business, diversify into new sectors, and secure new contracts. This position requires serving as the primary point of contact for clients, design teams, and subcontractors, ensuring all quality and safety standards are met.

Project management duties include overseeing contracts, RFIs (requests for information), change orders, and submittals using modern construction software tools — with Procore experience preferred. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with estimating and procurement teams during preconstruction phases and help drive continuous improvement initiatives. The environment supports someone comfortable with client-facing communications and adept in scheduling and budgeting, ensuring all projects are delivered efficiently and within scope. The company offers a transparent and measurable bonus structure, monthly car allowance or company-provided truck, and a strong employee benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, four weeks of paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with employer match.

Overall, this role is ideal for a motivated construction professional who values a family-like workplace, seeks diverse and challenging projects, and wants to play a pivotal role in steering a growing company’s success in the commercial construction sector.
