Job Description
Leidos is a renowned industry and technology leader that serves government and commercial customers by providing smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the company boasts a global workforce of approximately 47,000 employees and reported an impressive annual revenue of roughly 16.7 billion dollars for the fiscal year ending January 2025. Leidos is committed to driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the complex demands of its clients, particularly in defense, healthcare, and other critical sectors. The company upholds a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination, ensuring equal employment opportunities for all qualified applicants regardless of their background or identity.
Leidos is currently seeking to hire a Project Manager Junior to join its SMIT team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The SMIT (Service Management, Integration, and Transport) team oversees the largest IT services program tailored for the U.S. Navy. Under the NGEN-R program, Leidos manages the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet—a comprehensive network infrastructure that includes cybersecurity services, network operations, help desk support, and data transport services. The objective of the SMIT program is to unify shore-based Navy networks and improve operational capabilities while achieving cost savings by consolidating efforts into a single enterprise network.
The role of Project Manager Junior is pivotal in assisting with planning, directing, and coordinating cross-functional teams to successfully manage and implement projects that span from initial concepts to full operational deployment. This position involves meticulous oversight of project economics, such as costs, budgets, staffing, sub-contractors, resources, and risk management. The individual will be responsible for assembling appropriate resources, including sub-contractor selection, to fulfill project requirements effectively.
Project Manager Junior will also act as a liaison between the project teams and clients, translating client requirements into actionable operational plans. They will oversee adherence to legal and contractual obligations and ensure alignment with clients’ long-term goals. Facilitating status reviews, coordinating communication among stakeholders, mentoring both customers and vendors in project management methodologies, and advising senior leadership on project risks and capabilities are integral duties of this role. Furthermore, the candidate will be expected to stay informed of emerging technologies and project management techniques to enhance project outcomes continually.
Key qualifications for this role include holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of one year of related experience. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance. Prior experience working with or collaborating with the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) G6 and Network Activity-Reserves, understanding their specific mission requirements, is highly desirable.
This position offers a competitive pay range of $50,700 to $91,650 annually, with compensation packages tailored to the candidate’s responsibilities, education, skills, and experience. Employment benefits at Leidos include competitive compensation, health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement plans.
Leidos fosters a work culture that challenges the status quo and encourages innovation, making it an ideal environment for candidates eager to disrupt conventional approaches and contribute to one of the most critical IT services programs supporting the U.S. Navy. Join Leidos and become part of a mission-driven team that leads in technology and innovation.
