Job Description
RES is a mission-driven environmental restoration company dedicated to restoring ecosystems and promoting sustainability through innovative, science-based practices. With a focus on delivering measurable environmental impacts, RES engages in projects that span restoration, conservation, and sustainable natural resource management. This dynamic company thrives on teamwork, collaboration, and the sharing of diverse perspectives to solve complex environmental challenges. RES fosters a culture of integrity, initiative, and a strong work ethic among its employees, encouraging adaptability and resilience in a constantly evolving field.
The Project Manager III role at RES is a leadership position designed for individuals ready to take on complex restoration projects independently. As a Project Manager III, you will lead multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors through all phases of project delivery, from initial planning through to completion and close-out. This role requires navigating complex regulatory environments while ensuring that project outcomes align with high standards of quality and environmental stewardship. You will be involved in coordinating with internal experts, external clients, agencies, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution and regulatory compliance.
Operating from regional offices or project hubs, you will play a pivotal role in balancing strategic oversight with ground-level project management. With travel requirements of 10 to 25 percent, the position offers engagement in field activities and key regulatory milestones that enhance your direct impact on the environment.
This position offers a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about environmental restoration to lead high-impact projects that make a real difference in ecosystem recovery and sustainability. You will enjoy autonomy and be empowered to make critical project decisions, mentor junior colleagues, and strengthen the company’s project management capabilities. Through this role, you will influence long-term environmental outcomes and witness the tangible effects of your work on the ground.
A typical day as a Project Manager III at RES involves finalizing risk assessments, updating project plans, coordinating with design and construction teams, and monitoring permit status. Field visits to restoration sites to oversee subcontractor performance and verify project progress are common. Regular communication with regulators, clients, and project teams ensures that scope, schedule, and budget remain well-managed. You will utilize RES’s established project management best practices—including Opportunity Charters, Risk Registers, and MS Project schedules—to maintain clarity, mitigate risks, and drive projects forward effectively.
RES highly values candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in applied sciences, engineering, or related fields, coupled with significant experience in environmental or construction project management. With over 10 years in the field and at least 6 years managing restoration or construction projects, the ideal candidate is well-versed in regulatory processes, financial reporting, risk management, and leading diverse teams. Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to mentor junior project managers are essential. Additional qualifications such as PMP certification, professional licenses (PE/PG), or advanced degrees are highly regarded and will distinguish candidates.
RES is committed to equal opportunity employment and encourages applications from qualified individuals regardless of race, religion, gender, disability, veteran status, or any legally protected characteristic. Join RES and become part of a forward-thinking company where science, teamwork, and restoration align for lasting environmental impact.
