Job Description
Our client is a highly respected general contractor based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, recognized consistently within the top 100 construction firms nationally according to Engineering News-Record (ENR). Although the overall company operates with over $1 billion in revenue across multiple states, their Milwaukee office represents a growing hub with over $100 million in annual revenue. This company merges the extensive resources and stability of a large ENR-ranked construction firm with the agility and atmosphere of a smaller, tighter-knit team culture. Their portfolio spans all vertical construction sectors except single-family residential, handling projects that range widely in size from $1 million to $50 million. With leadership originating from some of the top general contracting firms in Wisconsin, the company emphasizes professionalism paired with a family-feel work environment. Their current project delivery method operates primarily as a construction manager with an exciting plan to integrate self-perform trades, promising new growth and development in the Milwaukee market.
This Project Manager role is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Milwaukee, offering a competitive salary range of USD 120,000 to USD 140,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role demands a seasoned construction professional who can skillfully lead all phases of commercial construction projects—from preconstruction right through to closeout. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met consistently. This involves developing and maintaining robust project schedules while coordinating closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to meet critical milestones. Financial oversight plays a key role, with the Project Manager managing budgets, contracts, change orders, and cost forecasting to maximize project profitability and overall business performance.
The position requires overseeing all subcontractor procurement and ensuring performance and compliance with contract stipulations and project specifications. Regular site inspections are critical to guarantee adherence to safety protocols, building codes, and quality standards, stepping in to mitigate risks proactively. The Project Manager will act as the primary liaison among owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders, providing transparent project updates and resolving issues swiftly. A meticulous review of construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings is essential to maintain accurate execution and timely delivery standards. The role also includes leading project closeout activities such as punch lists, final inspections, turnover documentation, and warranty coordination.
This opportunity is particularly ideal for an individual with at least 2 years of lead project management experience in commercial, multifamily, healthcare, or industrial construction sectors, particularly those who have managed projects valued at $5 million or more. Strong communication skills and a dedication to high-quality construction standards are expected from successful candidates.
Included in the compensation package are substantial benefits: a competitive base salary with a performance-based bonus, 401(k) plan with company match, comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans, and a generous paid time off arrangement of 3 to 4 weeks plus holidays. Candidates looking to advance their career within a large yet community-focused construction firm will find this role rewarding and challenging, perfect for contributing to substantial growth in Milwaukee's vibrant construction market.
