Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) is a well-established electrical construction company headquartered in San Jose, California. Founded in 1954, CEI has developed a reputation for delivering high-profile, complex projects that significantly impact the communities they serve. As part of Quanta Services (NYSE: PWR), North America’s largest employer of skilled craft labor, CEI embodies a strong commitment to integrity, safety, innovation, and excellence. The company’s portfolio includes commercial, data center, and energy projects, reflecting its versatility and expertise in the electrical construction sector.
CEI’s commercial team is a dynamic group that combines experienced project managers, in-house engineers, and a skilled union workforce to execute projects efficiently and safely. Their approach revolves around teamwork, detailed planning, and an innovative mindset that ensures client satisfaction while maintaining high operational standards.
The Project Manager - Commercial role at Cupertino Electric is critical to the company’s success in managing construction projects from inception through completion. The position is based in San Jose, CA, within the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, with the expectation of travel to various project sites as needed. This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of $127,500 to $200,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and market factors, and is eligible for an annual performance bonus.
As a Construction Project Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day management of complex electrical construction projects, including planning, execution, budgeting, and team leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring projects meet all safety, quality, and schedule expectations while protecting financial margins. Your financial oversight duties will include cost control, forecasting, and budget reallocation to maximize project profitability.
Your role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including superintendents, foremen, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. You will lead regular planning meetings, manage procurement and subcontractor sequencing, and maintain clear communication to align all parties on project goals and milestones. Risk management is also paramount; you will identify potential issues early and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
Further, you will ensure that all contractual obligations are upheld, enforce compliance with regulatory and company standards, and resolve technical or field problems promptly. The role demands strong leadership abilities to build and motivate high-performing teams, with a focus on employee development and safety culture advocacy.
This position typically manages projects or project scopes valued between $15 million and $30 million, requiring considerable knowledge of electrical construction processes, union labor agreements, and business acumen. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, be adept at supervising multi-disciplinary teams, and have a proven track record in the profitable delivery of commercial or industrial electrical projects.
Working at CEI means joining a company that values diversity, teamwork, and personal growth. Employees are empowered to contribute meaningfully to impactful projects that shape the built environment and enhance people’s lives. The company prioritizes safety and operational excellence and fosters an inclusive culture where every individual’s contributions are recognized and rewarded. If you are a motivated leader passionate about construction management and looking for an opportunity to advance your career within a respected industry leader, CEI offers a unique platform to build your future.
