Job Description

Boeing is a globally recognized aerospace leader known for innovating and collaborating to make the world a better place. With a commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming work environment, Boeing offers extensive opportunities for professional growth to every teammate. The company focuses on advancing aerospace technology, delivering commercial and defense aircraft, and pushing the boundaries of human flight. Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is a prominent division within Boeing, known for manufacturing commercial aircraft designed to be safe, reliable, and efficient. The 787 Airplane Integration Office (AIO), specifically, plays a critical role in the integration and support of the 787 Dreamliner fleet - an advanced and fuel-efficient commercial jet designed to reduce environmental impact and improve passenger comfort.

The Project Engineer-Program Integration Manager (Mid-Level) role based in North Charleston, South Carolina, reports to the Program Chief Program Engineer and Director of Engineering. This position is integral to supporting the 787 airplanes in-service, production, and development stages. The engineer manages both urgent and long-term developmental, production, and fleet support issues, working on projects focused on safety, certification, and performance. The role requires leadership in managing complex program-level initiatives and fostering cross-functional collaboration among multiple integrated product teams.

Individuals in this role will have the opportunity to leverage their expertise in commercial aircraft design and analysis, particularly within the realms of airframe, flight sciences, interiors, propulsion, and systems. They will be responsible for developing integrated plans, leading teams, and monitoring technical developments throughout the lifecycle of customer introduction programs. The role involves actively managing risks and opportunities, supporting cross-functional and integrated product teams, and resolving complex issues related to airplane delivery, service returns, production stream sustainability, and supply chain challenges.

Strong communication skills are essential as the Project Engineer will routinely engage with diverse internal and external customers, including peers, stakeholders, senior and executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and suppliers. The position demands a detail-oriented approach to investigating system integration, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and precluding safety issues. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable leading major design changes through various product and certification lifecycle phases and thrive in dynamic environments where established processes may be undefined or unclear.

The Project Engineer-Program Integration Manager must comply with Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment, and the company maintains a Drug-Free Workplace policy with post-offer testing according to safety standards. Competitive compensation is offered, ranging from $112,200 to $151,800 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and retirement plans. Candidates should have experience adhering to U.S. export control regulations, with a requirement for U.S. Person status as defined by U.S. laws. The role also includes relocation support based on candidate eligibility but does not sponsor employment visas. This position operates on the first shift and embodies Boeing’s core values of innovation, safety, and inclusion.
