Job Description
Michigan Medicine, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a globally recognized academic health system known for its commitment to excellence in education, patient care, research, and community service. Established alongside the University of Michigan Medical School in 1850, Michigan Medicine has grown into one of the largest healthcare complexes worldwide, employing over 30,000 professionals dedicated to advancing medicine, science, and healthcare. This institution is driven by its strategic principles focused on three critical components: patient care, education, and research. These pillars collectively contribute to its mission of improving the health of patients, populations, and communities through innovation, leadership, and compassionate care.
Within Michigan Medicine, the Silver Club Memory Programs operate as a part of the Community Health Services Programs based at the Turner Senior Resource Center. The Silver Club is dedicated to supporting individuals with mild to moderate dementia by offering specialized activities and opportunities for socialization tailored to their needs. The program also extends its services to caregivers by providing community caregiver events, support groups, educational workshops, and respite assistance to both formal and informal caregivers managing the challenges of dementia care.
The Project Coordinator role at Silver Club Memory Programs is a pivotal, client-facing position that requires a combination of project management, event coordination, and community outreach skills. This hybrid-position, operating Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, is ideal for candidates who are passionate about supporting older adults with dementia and their families. The Project Coordinator will support Silver Club's initiatives by organizing events, coordinating educational programs like the SC Coffeehouse for recent dementia diagnoses, developing materials, and maintaining detailed records and reports. This role requires the administration of special projects and activities that enhance caregiver support, including assisting in the development and implementation of Care Support Plans for individuals receiving moderate day care programming.
An essential aspect of the position involves collaboration with trainers, vendors, and community partners to ensure seamless event execution and timely, accurate responses to various stakeholder needs. The Project Coordinator will also play a key role in community outreach efforts and serve as a resource liaison to caregivers, contributing to a supportive environment for both clients and staff. Functional supervision responsibilities may include overseeing students, interns, and volunteers, enabling the growth and development of future professionals in the field.
Candidates for this position must have a bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, social work, healthcare administration, or a related discipline. A background of 2-3 years working with older adults and experience organizing community events is essential. The role demands proficiency in standard office and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, with additional skills desired in UM FIN systems and budgeting software like Emburse. The ability to travel throughout Washtenaw County for various events is required. Michigan Medicine fosters a culture of teamwork, deadlines achievement, and dynamic adaptability, making this a rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to impactful programs dedicated to dementia care and caregiver support.
As an employee at Michigan Medicine, one benefits from excellent medical, dental, and vision coverage starting from day one, as well as a strong retirement savings match program. The organization values diversity, equity, and inclusion and is committed to providing an equitable work environment. Working with Michigan Medicine means being part of a world-class institution that values its people and advances healthcare for the greater good, making every employee a vital contributor to their mission.
