Job Description

OMSDC, the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council, is an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council dedicated to supporting minority business enterprises (MBEs) across Ohio. The organization plays a pivotal role in certifying, developing, connecting, and advocating for MBEs, fostering economic equity and empowering minority businesses through dynamic and robust corporate supplier diversity initiatives. OMSDC serves as a bridge between minority enterprises and corporate partners, creating opportunities that promote growth, inclusiveness, and diversity throughout the state. By facilitating strategic relationships and offering comprehensive programs, OMSDC helps minority businesses thrive in competitive markets, thereby contributing to broader economic development and social progress.

The Programs & Events Coordinator role at OMSDC is a multifaceted and hands-on position integral to the success of OMSDC's signature events. This full-time role focuses on the planning, execution, and management of large-scale events including the Annual Meeting, ConnectingOHIO, and the Awards Gala. These events are central to OMSDC's fundraising efforts and serve as critical networking platforms that connect corporate partners, certified MBEs, board members, and community stakeholders. Given the importance of these events to the organization’s brand and financial health, the Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring seamless event operations that align with OMSDC's mission and strategic objectives.

Operating in a hybrid work environment with locations across Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, or Toledo, the Coordinator is responsible for managing the entire event lifecycle—from initial conceptualization and vendor negotiations to onsite execution and post-event analysis. The role demands flexibility due to the rotating nature of event locations and requires strong collaboration with multiple departments, including direct coordination with the CEO, Board of Directors, Associate VP of Operations, marketing and finance teams, and event committees. The Coordinator also collaborates with external partners such as venues, caterers, audiovisual providers, and entertainment vendors to deliver events that are both memorable and financially sustainable.

This role extends beyond in-person events and includes assisting with virtual programming such as webinars and workshops. Effective project management skills are critical, with emphasis on tracking budgets, negotiating contracts, managing ticketing and registration systems, and analyzing sponsorship and registration metrics. The Coordinator is also charged with volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision to ensure a smooth event experience. OMSDC seeks candidates who excel in dynamic environments, are adept at multitasking, and embrace a collaborative team culture. Experience with project management tools like Monday.com and familiarity with registration platforms such as TicketTailor are advantageous. The position also offers opportunities to engage with OMSDC’s custom event networking platform, MatchDesk.

With a salary range of $50,000 to $65,000, this full-time role reports directly to the CEO. OMSDC is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates who are passionate about supplier diversity and economic inclusion will find a rewarding mission-driven career at OMSDC. This role offers professional growth opportunities in nonprofit event management, allowing the Coordinator to make a meaningful impact on minority business development and community engagement throughout Ohio.
