Job Description

The hiring organization is a dedicated Adult Day Program that specializes in delivering high-quality services to adults with disabilities in a supportive and community-focused environment. This program has a strong commitment to promoting independence, skill development, and meaningful community integration for its participants. By collaborating with families, referral agencies, interdisciplinary teams, and community partners, the organization ensures a comprehensive and holistic approach to each individual's service and care plan. Established to meet the diverse needs of adults with disabilities, the Adult Day Program emphasizes safety, personal growth, and enhancing quality of life through specially designed activities and tailored support.

The position available is for a Program Specialist – Event Coordinator, a vital role that combines program participant support with event and program coordination responsibilities. This full-time role, operating Monday through Friday with occasional evening and weekend duties, ensures the smooth operation of the Adult Day Program. The Program Specialist acts as a trusted advisor for an assigned caseload of program participants by maintaining open communication with participants, their families, care providers, and other stakeholders. This role supports participants in program activities and works closely with the Program Director to develop and execute appropriate services to promote independence and skill-building. Additionally, the Program Specialist serves as the key coordinator for program events, including the planning and execution of special activities such as Summer Camp, which may require overnight, out-of-town travel and chaperone responsibilities.

The responsibilities of this position include developing collaborative relationships with community agencies to create supportive networks, transportation of participants to off-site meetings, maintaining detailed documentation and financial records, and leading recruitment efforts for program staff. The Program Specialist also plays a crucial role in supervising assigned staff, implementing disciplinary actions when necessary, and supporting daily program operations in the absence of the Director. Leveraging proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential in preparing reports, scheduling meetings, and supporting organizational communications. This role requires a hands-on individual capable of physical activities such as lifting, assisting with mobility, and operating a motor vehicle safely.

Candidates should bring a minimum of three years of direct experience working with individuals with disabilities, at least one year of supervisory experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A valid California driver’s license and current automobile insurance are also mandatory due to transportation duties. This diverse role offers a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about empowering adults with disabilities to contribute meaningfully through both participant advocacy and event coordination, all within a caring and dynamic program environment.
