Job Description
RTX, the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, unites approximately 185,000 talented individuals driven by a shared purpose to address and solve some of the most complex challenges facing the world today. With three market-leading business segments, world-class operational capabilities, and significant investments in research and development, RTX offers unparalleled opportunities for career growth and innovation. The company is well-known for pushing the boundaries of science to discover new technologies that help connect and protect the global community.
One of the primary businesses under RTX is Pratt & Whitney, a global leader in the design, manufacture, and servicing of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems. With a rich heritage spanning over a century, Pratt & Whitney has been instrumental in revolutionizing modern flight and continues to shape the future of aerospace and defense through cutting-edge technology and relentless innovation.
The Quality Assurance organization within Pratt & Whitney is currently seeking a dedicated professional to join the GTF (Geared Turbofan) Program Quality Management team. This position plays a crucial role in leading and supporting various dynamic activities associated with a growing commercial engine program. The role includes engaging and collaborating with customers, internal teams, and both internal and external producers to ensure the highest standards of quality in product development, certification, production, and delivery.
This is an onsite role located at 400 Main Street, Building G, East Hartford, Connecticut, USA. It requires U.S. citizenship due to access restrictions associated with the program. The security clearance is not required for this position. The salary range is quite competitive, falling between $132,400 and $251,600 annually, reflective of experience, education, skill level, and other relevant factors.
The professional stepping into this role will be responsible for enhancing quality performance metrics, reducing defects, and improving first-time quality delivery through effective process improvement initiatives. They will serve as a vital conduit for the 'voice of the customer' to be integrated into decisions that affect overall quality and performance. The role demands collaboration across functional groups and suppliers using core elements of APQP and PPAP methodology — such as PFMEA, MSA, process flow, and control plans — to proactively identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Successful candidates typically possess a Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, or quality-related field (or equivalent experience) with at least 10 years of experience in relevant engineering, technical, or quality positions. Alternatively, an advanced degree with minimum 7 years of experience is preferred.
Additionally, the ideal candidate is characterized by a high-energy, dynamic approach and possesses exceptional communication skills. Experience with project management, supplier quality management systems, and complex engine components and assemblies is highly valued. Some domestic and international travel (up to 25%) may be required to fulfill job duties.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technology while being part of a globally recognized organization that invests heavily in its people and innovation. The company emphasizes a secure hiring process and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in its workplace. Applicants can expect eligibility for robust benefits, including medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, disability benefits, 401(k) match, flexible work arrangements, employee assistance programs, paid time off, parental leave, and more, depending on business unit and bargaining agreements.
