Headquartered in the United States, RTX is committed to advancing the security and defense capabilities of nations and their allies by delivering state-of-the-art technologies and mission-critical solutions. The company is distinguished by its dedication to core values such as trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation, fostering an environment where talented professionals contribute to meaningful projects that safeguard freedoms and deter threats worldwide. RTX offers a dynamic workplace culture, benefits packages competitive in the defense sector, and a strong emphasis on career growth and development for all employees.

The position available is an onsite role based in Tucson, Arizona, within the Program direct-support team, focusing on parts obsolescence engineering. This technical leadership role involves working closely with electronic components, addressing the challenges posed by part obsolescence to maintain program integrity and cost-effectiveness throughout various stages, including proposal, system design, low rate initial production, production, and support. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in parts and components engineering and will serve as a critical member of the Obsolescence Integrated Product Team. They will play a central role in developing and sustaining proactive obsolescence management processes that support cost-saving mitigation strategies, such as lifetime buys, alternate part selection, redesign efforts, and contract negotiations.

Key responsibilities of this position include interfacing daily with cross-functional teams such as design engineering, contracts, estimating, supply chain, and program management to resolve obsolescence issues efficiently and effectively. The role demands a solid understanding of program statements of work and customer-specific requirements related to component applications. It also requires conducting trade studies to determine cost-effective redesign cut-in points, as well as regular communication with program and customer leadership regarding mitigation strategy statuses. Candidates must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one immediately, with U.S. citizenship being a strict requirement due to national security protocols.

The salary range for this role is estimated between $86,800 and $165,200 annually, reflecting various experience levels and factors such as education, location, and expertise. RTX supports a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, 401(k) matching, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, and an employee assistance program. The company also values ongoing professional development, demonstrated through programs such as the Employee Scholar Program. Occasional travel may be required for this role. Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical defense programs in a collaborative, innovative environment that values security, integrity, and the professional growth of its workforce.
