Job Description
GDIT (General Dynamics Information Technology) is a global technology and professional services company dedicated to delivering innovative technology solutions and mission services to major agencies across the U.S. government, defense, and intelligence communities. With a strong presence in over 50 countries worldwide and a workforce of approximately 26,000 experts, GDIT specializes in leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software development to provide mission-ready capabilities. The company fosters a culture of innovation and is known for its commitment to supporting both the technological and human aspects of its mission, offering a military-friendly workplace with comprehensive career development and wellness programs.
The Program Manager (PM) role at GDIT is a critical leadership position responsible for the end-to-end management and success of complex IT and communication programs supporting a Department of War (DoW) customer. This position demands a highly skilled professional to oversee overall program performance, including cost control, schedule adherence, and compliance with technical and contractual requirements. As the primary leader of all contractor personnel assigned to the program, the PM will assign tasks, supervise technical efforts, and maintain strong stakeholder engagement through clear communication, reporting, and resolution of issues.
The PM will ensure the quality, efficiency, and profitability of the program, balancing technical challenges with business process management. They hold authority to make organizational decisions in response to government concerns and proactively identify potential risks related to contracts, resources, or program execution. This role requires managing multiple interrelated projects using integrated master schedules and detailed work breakdown structures, particularly focusing on emerging technologies such as wireless and private mobile networks including 5G implementations.
Located within the Washington, DC commuting area with options for remote or hybrid work, this position involves a minimum of 25% travel within the continental U.S. GDIT values professional development, demonstrated by offering tools such as AI-powered career growth platforms, internal mobility support, comprehensive benefits, and flexible work schedules, ensuring employees can balance their personal and professional priorities. The role commands a competitive salary range of $147,292 to $199,278, commensurate with experience, location, and contractual requirements, alongside a robust total rewards program.
Candidates for this role must possess a current DoD Secret Clearance and demonstrate a strong knowledge of Department of War or federal contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS), including contract change management, Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), and proposal development. Coordination with cross-functional teams such as Contracts, Legal, Supply Chain, and Subcontracts is critical, especially for large purchases exceeding $10 million.
Overall, this Program Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to lead transformative IT programs that drive innovation and mission success within a dynamic, supportive, and forward-thinking company committed to technological excellence and workforce well-being.
