The Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center of Manhattan, located at 334 Amsterdam Ave in New York, NY, is a vibrant and inclusive hub dedicated to fostering Jewish life and community across all ages and stages. Known as the JCC, this establishment is deeply rooted in Jewish values and committed to creating a welcoming environment that connects individuals and families through a multifaceted array of programs. These offerings include comprehensive children's and family programs, innovative health and wellness initiatives, engaging arts and culture events, and essential social services. As a cornerstone of the Upper West Side community, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring a supportive space where people from all backgrounds can engage, nurture their well-being, and find a meaningful sense of belonging.
The Program Manager role within the Gottesman Center for Jewish Life and the Selma and Lawrence Ruben Center for 20s and 30s represents a key position designed to oversee the planning, coordination, and successful execution of Jewish life programming catering to individuals and families across all demographics. This full-time position, based at the Upper West Side community center with an optional presence in Harlem, offers an annual salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience. The role calls for a highly organized, relationship-oriented, and mission-driven professional who is passionate about Jewish communal engagement and adept at managing complex programs, logistics, partnerships, and participant experiences.
The Program Manager is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of initiatives including holiday celebrations, educational offerings, cultural events, family and intergenerational programs, wellness and community-building experiences, volunteer opportunities, and Jewish learning initiatives. A significant aspect of the role is dedicated to overseeing programs for the Ruben Center targeting young adults in their 20s and 30s, emphasizing programming that enriches Jewish identity through various activities such as Shabbat dinners, holiday gatherings, social events, text study groups, and sports leagues.
This role requires exceptional project management skills and operational excellence, as well as collaboration across various departments within the organization, including children and family services, health and wellness, arts and culture, and social impact initiatives. The Program Manager is expected to develop detailed project timelines, coordinate logistical workflows, and ensure that all programs align with the organization's mission and Jewish values.
Responsibility extends to managing program budgets, invoices, vendor contracts, and the coordination of volunteers. The role also involves leveraging the JCC’s membership database to foster engagement, retention, and cultivate pathways for ongoing participation in Jewish life programs. Close partnerships with membership, development, marketing, and engagement teams are crucial for expanding the program’s reach, audience growth, and enhancing community-building efforts.
Additionally, this position is tasked with overseeing registration processes, participant communications, attendance tracking, and conducting post-program evaluations to assess effectiveness and participant satisfaction. Data-driven insights and analytic approaches are used to inform continuous program improvement and strategic decision-making. The Program Manager prepares detailed reports and presentations for leadership, funders, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Working hours require flexibility to accommodate events held evenings and weekends, embodying a culture of hospitality and inclusivity that encourages diverse audience participation. This position offers a supportive, mission-driven work environment with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, professional development opportunities, and access to the JCC’s various cultural and fitness programs. By joining the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan as a Program Manager, individuals have the opportunity not only to manage impactful Jewish life programs but also to contribute meaningfully to a thriving, dynamic community where every participant can grow and flourish.
