Job Description
Reading Assist is a distinguished non-profit organization with over 35 years of dedicated experience in providing direct services to students and professional development to educators. Focused on enriching reading skills, Reading Assist has successfully helped thousands of students overcome significant reading challenges through its year-round, high-impact tutoring services targeted at at-risk children. Established in Delaware and serving regions including southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Washington D.C., Reading Assist aims to become the leading regional expert and trusted provider of reading instruction for young, struggling readers. The organization's ambitious goal is to serve 10,000 students annually, with 90 percent meeting benchmark foundational reading skills within one year, highlighting its commitment to impactful literacy education.
The Program Manager role at Reading Assist is pivotal to the organization's mission. This position ensures the high-quality execution of all programming by managing and coaching tutors while also maintaining and fostering productive partnerships with schools. As a Program Manager, you will oversee a cohort of schools and tutors, providing ongoing support and strategic oversight to ensure the curriculum is delivered with fidelity. In this role, you will provide professional coaching and guidance not only to tutors but also to educators, helping strengthen literacy instruction practices and ensuring measurable student success. This hands-on role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively balance operational management, instructional quality, and partnership cultivation.
Key responsibilities include managing up to 30 tutors and educators across 8 to 10 partner schools, facilitating tutor onboarding and training, observing and providing constructive feedback, and conducting performance reviews. The Program Manager will also assess student progress where necessary, build a positive and engaged tutor culture, and handle compliance and administrative duties related to program delivery. Moreover, this role involves collaborating closely with school leaders to align literacy instruction with school goals and student needs, conducting data review meetings, and participating in recruitment and interviewing events.
Regular travel to assigned tutoring sites is required, emphasizing the need for flexibility and dedication to on-the-ground educational support. This role is integral to ensuring that Reading Assist’s proven curriculum achieves its transformative impact on young learners and supports educators in delivering evidence-based, structured literacy instruction. The ideal candidate will bring extensive classroom teaching experience, demonstrated coaching skills, and expertise in structured literacy techniques, reinforcing Reading Assist's standard of excellence.
