The Program Director, IDD Services role at ResCare Community Living is a pivotal leadership position within the Social and Human Services sector. This role is critical in managing the successful operation of one to four community-based programs that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Program Director oversees all aspects of program administration, including the organization and implementation of direct supports, person-centered planning, health care, advocacy, and stakeholder relations. Maintaining regulatory compliance and fostering a safe, supportive environment for both individuals and staff are primary responsibilities.

This position requires strong leadership skills to manage program staff, including hiring decisions, performance evaluations, scheduling, training, and employee retention efforts. The Program Director is also responsible for financial management and ensuring that the physical environment of the program sites is well-maintained and conducive to client well-being. Due to the nature of the work, the role demands availability for on-call support to handle staffing coverage and emergencies efficiently.

Ideal candidates for this role will have a bachelor’s degree with two to three years of related experience in the human services industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They must have excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to multitask to meet deadlines effectively. Strong communication skills are essential to building and maintaining collaborative relationships with staff, individuals served, and stakeholders. The role also requires a compassionate and responsible attitude, coupled with current driver’s license, car registration, and auto insurance compliance.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of one to four community programs including direct supports, person-centered planning, health care, advocacy, stakeholder relations, and regulatory compliance
  • Manage program staff including performance evaluations, scheduling, and orientation
  • Make recommendations or decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, corrective actions, and terminations
  • Oversee program planning implementation, monitor service delivery to ensure consistency and relevance to individuals served
  • Provide on-call support to staff to cover shifts and resolve staffing issues
  • Maintain financial management and physical environment quality of program sites
  • Ensure safety and compliance with applicable regulations
