Job Description
Behavioral Health Group (BHG) is the largest network of Joint Commission-accredited treatment centers in the United States and a leading provider of opioid addiction treatment services. Committed to helping individuals overcome substance use disorders, BHG operates over 115 locations across 24 states, employing more than 1,900 dedicated professionals who serve over 42,000 patients. The organization is renowned for its comprehensive approach to behavioral health care, combining clinical excellence with compassionate support to ensure the best outcomes for patients. BHG is not only a leader in treatment but also an advocate for patient rights and recovery, operating with integrity and a strong code of ethics.
The Program Director role at BHG is a vital leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a treatment program within one of their many centers. This role calls for an individual who can manage the direct supervision of the treatment center's team members while maintaining optimal performance in operations, staffing, compliance, and customer service. The Program Director plays a key role in scheduling, facilitating training and professional development, ensuring adherence to government regulations and accreditation standards, and overseeing the delivery of quality treatment services to patients.
This position involves responsibilities such as managing patient admissions, medication delivery, patient processing, chart preparation, and utilizing community resources effectively. The Program Director ensures that the treatment program meets high standards of care and infrastructure while promptly addressing any complaints or grievances. They are also tasked with handling urgent and emergent issues, sometimes outside regular working hours, demonstrating a commitment to patient care and operational stability.
In addition, the Program Director regularly evaluates treatment program performance and implements improvements to enhance outcomes. Managing the program's budget, revenue collection, and staffing needs, including recruitment, attendance, and team morale, also form crucial aspects of this role. The position requires leadership skills to mentor team members, enforce company policies such as the agency's Code of Ethics and Conduct, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body regulations.
The ideal candidate is expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related Human Services field and have 2-3 years of management experience, preferably with certifications or licensures relevant to the field. Advanced knowledge of medication-assisted treatment and experience managing substance abuse treatment services across diverse economic and cultural communities are highly valued. This role also calls for sound judgment, integrity, effective decision-making, excellent communication skills, and the ability to solve problems with long-term solutions.
At BHG, the Program Director not only leads operational excellence but also serves as the Corporate Compliance Officer and ensures that all team members are properly educated, credentialed, and licensed. They play a critical role in maintaining collaboration between the program and Human Resources regarding hiring, terminations, and payroll matters.
Working conditions for this role include an environment with standard medical office settings and occasional high-stress situations. The position requires the physical ability to communicate effectively, spend extended periods sitting and using a keyboard, and interact with patients who may have infectious diseases, mental health diagnoses, or legal system involvement.
Joining BHG as a Program Director means becoming part of a team that values work-life balance, professional growth, and comprehensive benefits. BHG is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is respected, and employees are supported through competitive pay, bonuses, insurance benefits, tuition reimbursement, and Employee Assistance Programs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization that makes a real difference in the lives of individuals battling addiction and behavioral health challenges.
