Job Description
REM Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This organization upholds the belief that every individual has the right to live well and that everyone deserves to have a fulfilling career. As part of a mission-driven team, employees are empowered to build meaningful relationships that inspire and motivate daily. REM Community Services operates with a compassionate approach, emphasizing person-centered planning to ensure that individuals served receive tailored support that meets their unique needs. With over 50 years of experience, Sevita and its affiliates have built a reputation for quality, innovation, and commitment across the United States, serving over 50,000 individuals with physical, intellectual, or behavioral challenges.
The Program Director, IDD Services, plays a critical and impactful role within REM Community Services. This leadership position involves managing the day-to-day operations of one to four community programs focused on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include organizing and implementing direct supports, facilitating person-centered planning and implementation, monitoring health care delivery, advocating for individuals served, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Additionally, this role ensures strict regulatory compliance across programs while overseeing recruiting, retention, staffing, training, safety measures, financial management, and maintaining the physical environment of program facilities.
A key part of the role includes managing program staff, conducting performance evaluations, scheduling, and orientation. The Program Director is also responsible for making significant human resource decisions such as employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, corrective actions, and terminations. This position requires the Program Director to oversee the implementation of program plans, ensuring that service delivery is consistent, engaging, and truly relevant to those served. Availability for on-call support is necessary to aid staff, cover shifts, or find coverage when required.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field within the Human Services industry, along with two to three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable. This role requires a valid driver’s license, car registration, and auto insurance due to the community-based nature of the programs. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, multi-tasking ability, and effective communication skills are essential for success. A reliable and compassionate attitude is fundamental to align with the organization's mission of creating a fulfilling and safe environment for both staff and individuals served.
REM Community Services offers flexible scheduling options including full-time, part-time, and as-needed shifts. Full-time employees receive a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holiday pay, and extensive opportunities for career development and advancement nationwide. Working at REM and Sevita means joining a supportive community of coworkers dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals served. This work environment values job security and encourages continuous professional growth within a mission-driven culture. Prospective candidates seeking a rewarding career path in Social and Human Services will find a welcoming and motivating workplace where their contributions truly matter.
