The role of eSports Program Coordinator at FIU is a unique and dynamic opportunity to contribute to the growth and operational excellence of both recreational and varsity competitive eSports programs. Coordinating daily activities, this position serves as a bridge between the intramural/recreational eSports club and the varsity eSports teams, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for all participants. Responsibilities include supporting the delivery of competitive events, recreational gaming activities, and wider student engagement initiatives aimed at building community and promoting student development through gaming. The coordinator works collaboratively with students, campus partners, and external stakeholders to enhance program participation, foster inclusiveness, and align initiatives with the broader mission and priorities of the university. This role requires adept administrative, logistical, and programmatic management skills to oversee everything from event coordination and team travel to digital marketing efforts and compliance with relevant policies. Key duties include organizing tournaments, symposiums, and youth camps; representing the university in eSports leagues and governing bodies; recruiting and training student volunteers; and managing the eSports arena’s operations. Serving as the primary contact for sensitive financial transactions related to the eSports program, the coordinator also plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of data security and compliance. The position offers an advertised salary range of $40,000 to $45,000 annually and adheres to a work schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to accommodate program needs. Pre-employment involves an expanded background check. Job Duties
- Assist in developing and coordinating a comprehensive calendar of campus and regional events including tournaments, symposiums, summer youth camps, and pop-up events
- Serve as a representative to competitive eSports leagues and governing bodies including rules committees and conference initiatives, supporting partnerships with academic units, alumni, and external sponsors
- Assist with developing and executing digital marketing, social media, and streaming strategies for campus and virtual events
- Assist in recruiting, selecting, training, and retaining students and volunteers involved in eSports
- Support and coordinate weekly training sessions for varsity players promoting their personal and professional development and ensuring adherence to policies
- Coordinate and oversee operation of the eSports arena including organizing and supporting training and gameplay events
- Supervise student assistants and team players including scheduling and coverage for program operations
- Serve as a liaison to eSports registered student organizations ensuring alignment with university rules and guidelines
- Represent the university in development of national collegiate eSports conferences and international leagues
- Coordinate team travel to local, regional, and national competitions and accompany varsity athletes to matches
- Support division committees, task forces, and special assignments related to student life
- Assist in implementing children’s educational programming, educator initiatives, and related internship/research opportunities
- Serve as primary contact for merchant accounts handling cardholder information and credit card transactions
