Job Description

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to building a stronger community through initiatives centered on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As part of a widespread network of YMCAs, the organization has consistently served the residents of the Pikes Peak Region by providing diverse programs and events tailored to meet the needs of all age groups, enhancing community engagement and fostering a more connected and vibrant local culture. This emphasis on inclusivity and community empowerment has made the YMCA a cornerstone for social development and community wellness in the region.

The Program and Events Coordinator role at the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, specifically for the Banning Lewis Ranch (BLR) community, plays a crucial part in maintaining and elevating the quality and reach of community programs and events. This position involves the detailed planning and organization of large-scale cultural events, youth and adult recreational activities, and fitness programs that serve the varied interests of BLR residents. The coordinator is responsible for both the logistical and strategic aspects of event management, ensuring that all programs align with the community’s unique needs and the YMCA’s mission of fostering healthy, engaged, and dynamic neighborhoods.

This role requires a collaborative mindset, as it involves working closely with local entities such as Oakwood Homes, community vendors, and the BLR Metro District to coordinate and execute successful events. The coordinator oversees the part-time event staff, managing schedules and job assignments to ensure effective event delivery. With a strong focus on budget adherence and cost research, the coordinator must balance creativity with practical financial management to maximize the impact of every event. Additionally, this position reports directly to the Program and Operations Director, highlighting its integral function within the organizational hierarchy.

Beyond logistical proficiency, the role demands excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities, empowering the coordinator to navigate the dynamic challenges of event planning in a community-centric environment. The ability to handle conflict resolution and foster positive relationships across diverse stakeholder groups is essential to success in this position.

Overall, the Program and Events Coordinator serves as a vital link between the YMCA’s mission and the community it serves at Banning Lewis Ranch. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to influence community wellness positively and to contribute to the social fabric of the Pikes Peak Region through thoughtful and impactful event management. The employment type is full-time with a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays, tailored to the specific needs of the community.
