Job Description

Joby Aviation is a leading aerospace company pioneering the future of urban air mobility with its cutting-edge piloted air taxi technology. Founded in 2009, Joby Aviation has been at the forefront of developing electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft designed to revolutionize how people travel over congested city landscapes. The company is currently in the final stages of FAA certification for its innovative aircraft, signaling that it is on the cusp of launching commercial air taxi services both in the United States and internationally in markets such as Dubai. Joby Aviation combines advanced technology with environmental sustainability to provide a quiet, efficient, and time-saving alternative to traditional ground transportation.

As a fast-growing aerospace manufacturer, Joby Aviation operates in a dynamic and challenging environment driven by the vision of sustainable aviation and urban air mobility. The company is committed to scaling up manufacturing capabilities and delivering flight-critical components that meet stringent quality and safety standards. The team at Joby Aviation consists of highly skilled, motivated, and hands-on professionals passionate about pushing the boundaries of innovative flight technology.

The role of Production Technician II/III is a vital position within the powertrain and electronics team. This position involves building crucial electrical powertrain components that are integral to the operation and safety of the VTOL aircraft. As a Production Technician, you will be involved in early-phase pilot and production part assembly, meticulous data entry into the manufacturing execution system (MES), and adherence to manufacturing best practices like 5S for workplace organization and safety. You will receive on-the-job training to develop the skills necessary to meet the high standards expected in this aerospace manufacturing environment.

This role requires an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, ever-changing production setting. You will play an essential part in the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes by providing feedback, documenting issues, participating in quality defect investigations, and helping validate new production methods. Physical stamina is also important, as the role entails lifting moderate weights regularly and performing repetitive tasks. The position demands strong communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to supporting the company’s mission to bring advanced electric air mobility to life.

Joby Aviation offers a competitive compensation package that includes a base pay ranging from $23 to $32 per hour based on experience and job-related expertise, as well as restricted stock units (RSUs) to provide employees with a stake in the company’s future success. Additionally, Joby provides comprehensive benefits such as paid time off, healthcare plans, a 401(k) plan with company matching, an employee stock purchase plan, and disability and life insurance coverage. The company fosters an inclusive work environment and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all employees.
