The role of Production Supervisor - Electronics Assembly at Crane Aerospace and Electronics is a critical leadership position responsible for guiding and directing a team within the Metal Fabrication, Assembly, or Test operations. The Production Supervisor II will ensure the team operates in a safe working environment while meeting rigorous quality standards, production schedules, and cost goals. Candidates will engage in resource planning, budgeting, and productivity improvement initiatives, contributing inputs toward the company’s monthly and annual goals. This job entails ensuring that products are built, assembled, and tested within required parameters while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and employee development.
Crane values strong leadership qualities and the ability to utilize Lean manufacturing tools to drive operational enhancements. The supervisor will mentor team members in continuous improvement techniques such as standard work practices, 5S, and material replenishment. They will be responsible for reviewing daily performance indicators and conducting problem-solving sessions using methodologies like 8 Step, 5 Why, and Cause and Effect analysis. This position also involves staffing decisions, coaching, and mentoring employees to align with business objectives and enhance individual growth.
Applicants should have a strong knowledge of basic electronic components, circuit functionality, and ESD awareness. Familiarity with interpreting schematic diagrams and quality standards, including IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001, is essential. Additionally, an understanding of cellular manufacturing and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office are required. The role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze data for root cause determination, and an aptitude for aligning customer demand with manufacturing capacity.
The Production Supervisor position may require access to Controlled Data or Information, and therefore only US persons are eligible due to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance. Candidates with aerospace or electronics manufacturing experience, or degrees in Electronics Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations Management are preferred.
Working conditions reflect a typical manufacturing environment, with the use of safety equipment and exposure to environmental factors such as noise, cold temperatures, dust, or fumes. The role involves physical activities like standing or sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds. Job Requirements
- 3+ years supervisory experience
- 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
- understand basic electronics components functionalities, circuity and ESD awareness
- able to interpret schematic diagram
- familiar to electronic workmanship acceptability criteria per IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements
- deep understanding of cellular manufacturing practices
- comfortable teaching the use of manufacturing based continuous improvement skills (standard work, 5S, material replenishment, etc.)
- intermediate skill level with MS Office software
- effectively communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of the business and present to groups both small and large
- ability to align customer demand with manufacturing capacity to develop labor planning/allocations
- ability to use data to determine root causes of issues to drive focused corrective action
- high school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties
- Identify and use lean manufacturing tools required to drive improvements and mentor teammates in the use of these tools
- provide inputs (resource planning, overtime projections, productivity improvements) to management to develop monthly and annual budgets
- assist Value Stream Managers with required monthly reporting to senior level management
- review and understand daily key performance indicators to evaluate the current status and gap to plan, and use this data to drive daily problem solving (8 Step, 5 Why, Cause and Effect, Fishbone) where required
- ensure timely identification of quality issues through the use of the non-conforming materials process to ensure scrap and rework are properly processed
- serve as liaison to other groups, product lines and/or functional areas to ensure products are built, assembled, and/or tested within appropriate parameters
- review the daily allocation of resources in order to drive production schedule to meet established customer requirements
- make staffing decisions in accordance with human resource procedures to build and grow the team to meet the needs of the business
- develop, coach, and mentor employees through the use of performance planning to drive employee and business growth
- guide the team on the best troubleshooting method based on the schematic diagram's interpretation
- any other task assigned by supervisor or management
