Job Description

EGGER Wood Products, LLC is a global leader in the wood-based materials industry, known for manufacturing innovative products used in furniture, interior design, construction, and laminate flooring. With approximately 12,000 employees worldwide, EGGER is driven by a passion for quality and a commitment to family values and innovation, making it a dynamic and forward-thinking company. The company’s dedication to continuous development allows it to create cutting-edge new products, tap into emerging markets, and provide exciting career opportunities to its workforce. Based in Lexington, North Carolina, EGGER operates with a strong emphasis on sustainability, quality, and operational excellence, positioning itself as a leading employer in the manufacturing sector.

The Shift Production Supervisor role at EGGER is a highly responsible position designed for energetic leaders who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments. This full-time position operates on a demanding 12-hour rotating 7-7 swing shift schedule—two weeks of days followed by two weeks of nights—requiring flexibility and commitment to meet production demands. The Shift Production Supervisor is entrusted with managing all production activities during their assigned shift, ensuring that safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives are consistently achieved or surpassed. The role demands a hands-on leader who can directly supervise, coach, and develop hourly production employees while maintaining tight control over daily operations.

Primary responsibilities include overseeing production schedules and resource allocation to maintain smooth workflows and minimize downtime. The supervisor ensures strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and manufacturing best practices, thereby sustaining product excellence and operational efficiency. They play a critical role in identifying and resolving production issues promptly, escalating challenges as necessary to maintain continuous, uninterrupted production.

Safety is a paramount concern in this role, and the Shift Production Supervisor leads by example in enforcing all company safety policies and procedures. Daily safety observations and toolbox talks are conducted to promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance. Collaboration with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) personnel ensures the manufacturing floor remains compliant, hazard-free, and conducive to employee well-being.

People leadership is a cornerstone of this position. The supervisor is responsible for coaching and developing the team to encourage engagement, accountability, and high performance. They execute performance management activities, including conducting performance discussions, participation in annual evaluations, and wage reviews. Attendance and timekeeping management via systems such as SAP TMW is crucial to ensure accurate payroll and compliance with shift hours. The role also includes active participation in recruitment, onboarding, and training of new production employees, strengthening the team’s capabilities and cohesion.

Quality control and continuous improvement efforts are integral parts of the Shift Production Supervisor’s duties. They ensure adherence to stringent quality standards throughout production, partnering with Quality and Maintenance teams to address process deviations or equipment malfunctions. By promoting lean manufacturing principles and employee involvement in problem-solving, the role aims to reduce quality-related claims and improve customer satisfaction. Key performance indicators (KPIs) such as safety records, production output, scrap rates, and absenteeism are closely monitored and reported.

Strong communication skills are essential for maintaining clear documentation, conducting daily shift meetings, and ensuring seamless shift handoffs. The supervisor prepares and reviews production reports, downtime logs, and employee records to support transparency and operational clarity. This role embodies the EGGER Core Principles, contributing positively to the company culture and undertaking other duties and projects as assigned.

This position requires physical stamina to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment. Shift supervisors must be able to stand, walk, and communicate effectively throughout 12-hour shifts, occasionally lifting up to 20 lbs and using various tools and electronic devices.

The ideal candidate for the Shift Production Supervisor has an associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or a related field, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting, especially in 24/7 or multi-shift operations. Strong leadership skills and a robust understanding of manufacturing processes, lean tools, OSHA safety standards, and electronic timekeeping systems are essential. Proficient interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills round out the qualifications necessary to excel in this critical role at EGGER Wood Products.
