Job Description
Starbucks Coffee Company, a globally recognized leader in the coffee industry, has been dedicated since its inception to not only celebrate the rich tradition of coffee but also to foster a sense of connection among its partners and customers. Starbucks is known for its commitment to developing extraordinary leaders who share a passion for service and quality. The company operates a unique portfolio of flagship Starbucks Reserve Stores and Culinary Kitchens across the United States. These flagship locations serve as hubs for innovation and elevated culinary experiences, showcasing Starbucks Reserve's commitment to exceptional quality and craftsmanship in both its beverage and food offerings.
Starbucks Reserve Kitchens are dynamic environments where culinary ambassadors bring their expertise to life by crafting fresh, high-quality food items such as artisanal baked breads, pastries, cakes, focaccia-style pizza, and other savory delights. The team members in these kitchens work with impeccable ingredients and a commitment to consistency and excellence to inspire and delight customers in Starbucks Reserve and Roastery locations.
The role of Savory Cook II within the Starbucks Reserve Kitchen is a key contributor to the success of these culinary operations. It involves organizing and executing the preparation of savory food products in large quantities while ensuring adherence to quality and sanitation standards. This role requires collaboration with the Head Savory Chef and Lead Savory Cook to effectively plan and manage food production. Partners in this role must embody Starbucks' principles and company policies, demonstrating a dedication to quality, safety, and teamwork.
Responsibilities in this position include preparing a wide variety of savory products, soups, and sauces according to prescribed recipes; assisting with the timely organization and execution of food preparation; maintaining sanitation and food safety protocols; accurately reading, scaling, and handling large-batch recipes; and managing critical documentation such as date lot tracking sheets and HACCP temperature logs. Familiarity with gram/kilogram scales and units of measure is essential, as is the flexibility to perform other duties as assigned by kitchen leadership.
Ideal candidates for this role will have over two years of experience in culinary production within a professional kitchen, with commercial kitchen experience considered a plus. While a current Health Code Certification is preferred, it is not mandatory. Essential qualifications include stamina to work on feet for extended periods, the ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds, a keen attention to detail, fast and efficient execution, competent knife skills, basic math and English proficiency, and familiarity with data entry and computer use.
Starbucks offers competitive benefits to its partners, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, paid parental leave, vacation and sick time accrual, participation in a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, and stock programs. Additionally, partners have access to educational opportunities such as 100% tuition coverage for a first-time bachelor’s degree via the Starbucks College Achievement Plan. Starbucks is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, accommodation, and fair employment practices. This position typically starts at the entry point of the pay range based on geographic location, with compensation decisions depending on individual circumstances.
