The Production Operator I role is based in North Las Vegas, NV, within Airgas's industrial gas filling operations. This position plays a critical role in assisting with the cylinder requalification and repair processes. The operator is responsible for manually or with the aid of material handling equipment, moving industrial gas cylinders throughout the plant, as well as loading and unloading cylinders from delivery trucks. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, operate equipment such as forklifts, hand-trucks, pallet jacks, and chain hoists proficiently, and organize cylinders efficiently for refilling and handling. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records by completing load sheets and reporting equipment defects or safety incidents are also essential.

The hourly pay for this position ranges from $19.00 to $22.00, reflecting the candidate's experience, education, and skills alongside market considerations. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • must be able to work in a drug-free environment
  • able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
  • customer service oriented and able to interact with fellow associates in a professional manner
  • ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, MSDS, and procedure manuals
  • basic mathematic and written skills

Job Duties

  • adhere to and assure compliance with the code of conduct, handbook, policies and procedures and all applicable rules, regulations and standards promulgated by federal, state and other applicable agencies or regulating bodies
  • pioneer the way within the airgas culture - putting safety first
  • operate forklift, hand-truck, pallet-jack, chain hoist, etc. to load/unload compressed and liquid industrial gas cylinders to and from delivery trucks to filling and storage areas
  • load cylinders onto vehicles manually or with the aid of material handling equipment
  • transfer plant cylinders to different areas within the facility using a forklift
  • organize and streamline cylinders for efficient refilling and handling
  • notify supervisor if normal truck loading duties cannot be completed effectively for any reason and replace pallet straps as necessary
  • complete load sheets accurately and distribute to drivers at the end of shift
  • report any equipment or facility defects to supervisor
  • ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported
  • perform cylinder cleaning, painting and general maintenance when needed
  • perform other duties as assigned
