The Production Operator position based in Tulsa, OK at the E. 56th St. Retail shop offers a critical role within Airgas' operations. This role mainly involves filling cryogenic liquids and pure non-flammable industrial gases under strict adherence to Airgas Fill Plant Standard Operating Procedures. The operator will handle setting pressure gauges, adjusting valves, monitoring scales to ensure correct filling weight, and safely moving and connecting cylinders using material handling equipment. The operator will also be responsible for testing gas purity, inspecting cylinders for safety compliance, and isolating any defective units for expert evaluation.

This full-time position follows a schedule from Monday to Friday, with shifts available from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm or 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Job Duties

  • Set pressure gauge to specified reading and monitor for indication of full cylinders
  • adjust valves and observe gauge to fill cylinder to specified pressure
  • observe scale indicator to fill cylinders to specified weight
  • fill cylinder to full capacity, move cylinder onto scale using safe handling techniques, and connect vent line to release excess gas to meet prescribed weight
  • position cylinders onto platform or in manifold racks with material handling equipment or team-supported techniques
  • test gas for purity using testing equipment to maintain high-quality standards
  • inspect and evaluate empty cylinders for safety, examine exterior for defects, and quarantine cylinders if necessary
  • contribute to team goals and support plant operations as needed
