Job Description

Second Life Mac (SLM), founded in 2013, is a pioneering company dedicated to connecting people with quality technology through affordable and sustainable Apple device solutions. As a recognized leader in the Apple device buyback industry, SLM has distinguished itself through a steadfast commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The company’s core mission revolves around making Apple technology accessible while promoting sustainability by refurbishing and upgrading Apple devices, which supports environmental responsibility and circular economy principles.

SLM operates as a technologically advanced warehouse production environment where efficiency, quality, and team collaboration are paramount. This dynamic and growth-oriented establishment fosters a culture centered on Lean operations, continuous progress, and high standards. The employment opportunity at Second Life Mac offers a chance to join a dedicated team that values accountability, positive energy, and professional development.

The Production Lead role at SLM is a critical position within the company’s operations, blending hands-on technical expertise with effective leadership and management responsibilities. The person in this role will oversee daily Apple device repair and upgrade processes, managing a small team of skilled technicians. The Production Lead ensures that workflows are optimized to maintain low repair backlogs and meet production goals by monitoring key performance indicators and driving process improvements. Working directly in the warehouse production environment, the role involves managing the repair, upgrade, regrade, and return of devices to sellable inventory with consistent quality and efficiency.

This role is designed for a hands-on leader who is passionate about technology and operational excellence. The Production Lead is responsible for coaching and developing team members, fostering a collaborative and accountable workplace, and continuously striving for superior operational results. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a keen analytical mindset to assess metrics and drive improvements, and a deep understanding of Apple product repairs.

The environment is fast-paced and physically active, requiring standing, moving devices, and working with technical tools and components. The Production Lead must also uphold safety, environmental, and compliance standards relevant to warehouse production and electronic waste management.

SLM’s core values emphasize being a joy to work with, winning the day by holding high standards, fostering a sense of urgency, adopting a growth mindset, and maintaining forward momentum despite challenges. These values shape the company culture and guide how the Production Lead will engage with their team and contribute to the company’s success.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to grow their career in operations leadership within the technology refurbishment sector, particularly those with experience in repair and production environments. The opportunity offers professional growth, meaningful work in sustainability, and the chance to be part of a company that prioritizes quality and innovation in the Apple device market.
