The role of Production Foreman at Franz Family Bakery is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to lead and grow within a fast-paced production environment. This position is integral to ensuring the successful production of a variety of pastry and baked goods. The Production Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities within their department during the shift. This includes guaranteeing the production of quality products in a safe, clean, and efficient manner that meets established standards and schedules.

The Production Foreman assists with multiple tasks, adapting to changing production needs daily. This role is pivotal in managing equipment setup to ensure smooth start-ups and continuous operation throughout the production cycle. Monitoring products for proper slicing, packaging, and coding according to both internal and SQF Food Safety guidelines is a critical component of the job. Collaboration with the engineering department to adjust equipment for maintaining product quality and meeting on-time production schedules is also expected.

Training and mentoring employees to meet the standards in safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and service is a key part of the foreman’s responsibilities. They are also tasked with ensuring communication within the team is clear and effective, fostering a work environment where problems are addressed swiftly and resolutions are reached promptly. Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience leading a team in a production environment
  • High school graduate
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Bakery experience preferred
  • Additional technical training including seminar training, safety training in Hazardous Material, Right To Know and Lock-Out/Tag-Out programs or college credits a plus
  • Must speak English, Spanish a bonus

Job Duties

  • Responsible for directing, coordinating department activities on the shift to guarantee the production of quality products in a clean, safe manner within established operating standards and planned schedules
  • Ensures set up of equipment to ensure proper start-up and continuous operation
  • Monitors products during production cycle for proper slicing, packaging and coding to established standards
  • Works with engineering department with equipment adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality and on-time production schedule
  • Confirms adequate supply of packaging supplies for a smooth and efficient production run
  • Trains employees to perform to standard on each job within the department, including safety, quality, cost and service
  • Explains and fairly enforces company policy and procedures to employees
  • Responds to problems and seeks resolutions in a timely manner
  • Responsible for seeking understanding of communications by clearly expressing facts and asking follow-up questions
