Job Description
Grand Central Bakery, founded in 1989, is a beloved artisan bakery that revolutionized the Northwest bread scene with its rustic, handcrafted loaves. Over the decades, the bakery has built a reputation for quality and community-focused values. As a Certified B Corporation, Grand Central Bakery joins a global movement of businesses committed to using commerce as a force for good. Sustainability is a core principle that influences every aspect of operations, from sourcing ingredients to caring for employees and investing in local communities. The bakery is known not only for its delicious breads and baked goods but also for fostering an inclusive workplace culture that prizes racial tolerance, respect, and collaboration. The bakery operates every day of the year to serve fresh baked products and uphold its high standards of quality and service.
The Production Dishwasher role at Grand Central Bakery plays a crucial part in maintaining the bakery's outstanding standards. This part-time position, paying $22.68 per hour, is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation across all equipment, dishes, and utensils used in bread production and the commissary kitchen in Seattle. Reporting directly to the Production Shift Manager and also accountable to the Production Shift Lead, this role is integral to the bakery's daily operations. The dishwasher prepares ingredients such as chopping herbs and other items for bread production while strictly adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation standards outlined by the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
The position demands physical stamina and listening skills, with employees standing and walking for most of their shift and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. It requires schedule flexibility, including availability on Sundays and Mondays, as well as willingness to work weekends and holidays in a fast-paced environment. This job is suited for team players with a strong initiative and commitment to excellence who thrive in environments where safety, quality, and collaboration are equally valued. The dishwasher is expected to maintain an organized workstation, use industrial dishwashing equipment and chemicals safely, and align with the company’s mission to be a positive force in the community and environment. Employees also uphold the bakery’s commitment to anti-racist practices and a culturally inclusive workplace. Overall, this role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to contribute to a respected artisan bakery with a strong social mission while developing their skills in food production support and sanitation.
