The Production Cook role at Modern Catering plays a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of food quality and service the company promises. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, Director of Operations, and the owners, this position involves hands-on preparation and production of menu items with an emphasis on modern presentation and consistency. The role extends beyond the kitchen to include managing inventory, controlling labor and operational costs, supporting staff training, and ensuring compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work 10+ hour shifts stand walk for extended periods and lift carry up to 50 lbs
  • Dexterity to operate kitchen equipment and knives safely
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and confined spaces
  • Sensory abilities to assess product quality taste texture presentation and detect emergencies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced high-energy environment
  • Passion for high-quality food local ingredients and unique guest experiences
  • Excellent knife skills and food preparation techniques
  • Ability to portion control for large-scale production
  • Willingness to work evenings early mornings weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary certificate or degree from an accredited culinary agency preferred
  • ServeSafe Certification required
  • 3-5 years experience in a professional high-volume kitchen preferably in catering hotel or convention settings
  • Ability to execute modern creative menu items that align with Modern Catering’s vision
  • Professional appearance positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License with a clean motor vehicle record

Job Duties

  • Prepare and produce menu items ensuring exceptional quality modern presentation and consistency
  • Assist in controlling labor and operating expenses through effective planning purchasing and inventory management
  • Conduct daily line checks inventory and food reviews providing clear feedback to kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and management on costing production and waste management
  • Support the training coaching and development of kitchen staff to maintain high food quality and presentation standards
  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal sanitation and safety regulations maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
  • Report necessary kitchen repairs and maintain safe food handling procedures
  • Assist in scheduling and managing kitchen staff to ensure proper staffing levels
  • Step in for other kitchen roles as needed and attend staff management meetings
  • Support brand recognition client relations and customer service initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
