Job Description

Conagra Brands is a leading food company renowned for its iconic brands that have become household names across America and beyond. With a portfolio that includes favorites such as Reddi-wip, Slim Jim's, Duncan Hines, BOOMCHIKPOP, Chef Boyardee, and Swiss Miss, Conagra Brands has a legacy of delivering quality food products that connect with consumers worldwide. Founded on innovation, quality, and a commitment to the community, Conagra Brands operates more than 40 locations and employs a diverse team of over 18,000 people. The company's focus on creating an energized and inclusive culture makes it an exciting and rewarding place for food industry professionals who are passionate about food and dedicated to making a difference.

The position being offered is for Cooks on the 2nd shift at Conagra Brands' food manufacturing plant located in Kent, Washington. This is a full-time hourly role with a competitive hourly rate of $26.00 per hour plus an additional $1.50 shift differential, reflecting the company's recognition of the value of night-shift workers. The shift runs from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, providing a schedule that supports work-life balance while engaging employees in vital production activities.

In this role, you will be an integral part of a large team of over 235 members, working onsite to ensure the highest quality standards in food manufacturing are consistently met. Reporting directly to the shift supervisor, cooks in this position are responsible for monitoring the production line, ensuring food safety standards are rigorously upheld, and maintaining the quality and consistency of food products. Duties involve careful observation of baked batter color on the grill conveyor to detect any deviations, monitoring the flow of products and their flipping mechanisms, and adjusting the conveyor's speed and temperature to meet precise specifications.

You will also be tasked with recording critical process data such as speed, waste, and product weight, as well as checking temperatures of egg whites and products exiting the cooker and freezer to confirm they meet safety standards. One of the key responsibilities includes verifying internal temperatures during the 'Cook and Chill' step to satisfy critical control point (CCP) requirements in accordance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines. Additionally, employees must be well-versed in Safety, Food Safety (SQF), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), with training and validation in cleaning and sanitizing equipment and workstations, which include cookers, depositors, conveyors, floors, and walls.

Safety is paramount at Conagra Brands, so individuals in this role receive training in ladder safety, water and drain management, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Open communication with supervisors and management concerning food safety issues is also critical. The company fosters a culture of teamwork, respect, continuous improvement, and innovation by encouraging employees to support each other and seek new ways to enhance processes.

This position requires a minimum of one year of machinery operation experience and demands reliability in attendance and commitment to Conagra's Code of Conduct Policy. Employees must be flexible, willing to work varying hours and occasional overtime as production needs dictate. Conagra Brands supports its employees not only with competitive pay but also with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for career growth and development. The company values its people and provides a nurturing environment where employees can thrive and achieve their potential while being proud of the quality foods they help produce.
