This role is an exciting opportunity at the University of Southern Indiana, where Sodexo is seeking a full-time Production Cook. Based on weekday morning shifts, this position offers a pay range of $17.00 to $19.97 per hour. The Production Cook will be a critical member of the culinary team, responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items across all meal periods and events, in alignment with Sodexo's culinary standards. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment, the Production Cook will uphold strict food safety and sanitation protocols, maintain an organized workspace, and collaborate effectively with team members to deliver a superior dining experience.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and up to two years of relevant experience, demonstrating proficiency in basic kitchen equipment operation and food handling procedures. The role requires physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift items up to 50 pounds. As a cornerstone of Sodexo's food service operations, the Production Cook plays an essential role in ensuring timely, high-quality food preparation while adhering to federal, state, and corporate standards. Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Significant walking or other means of mobility
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
