The Production Cook position at Sodexo, based at the Iroquois Nursing Home, provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and delivering top-quality food service. This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with an hourly pay rate of $20. The work schedule includes afternoon and evening shifts with varying days and rotating weekends. As a Production Cook, you will be integral to preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items for all meal periods and special events, adhering strictly to Sodexo's culinary standards.

Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, this role demands accuracy, efficiency, and a keen eye for quality and presentation. The Production Cook ensures that all meals meet the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and taste, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests. Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high-quality food service
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Walk or stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds as required
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to support effective workflow
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
