The seminary is dedicated to forming Church leaders who are inspired by the Holy Spirit to serve as priests, deacons, or lay leaders within their communities. With a focus on integrated Catholic formation, SPSSOD is committed to fostering Christ-centered growth, engaging in personal accompaniment, and encouraging the use of individual gifts as part of its core values. The seminary aims to cultivate a deep spiritual and intellectual environment that supports the mission of the Catholic Church and respects magisterial teachings.
The Production Chef position at SPSSOD offers a unique opportunity to join a vibrant, mission-driven community. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment that requires culinary leadership in managing the Binz dining operations. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of culinary management, including menu planning, food production, staff supervision, and adherence to stringent food safety and sanitation standards as dictated by the University of St. Thomas HACCP guidelines. With a salary range of $66,500 to $72,800, this role is vital to creating a positive dining experience for seminarians, priests, staff, and guests.
As the lead culinary professional and kitchen manager, the Production Chef collaborates closely with the Director of Operations to ensure that culinary operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling staff, developing recipes and rotating menus, controlling food and labor costs, managing inventory, and maintaining compliance with food safety regulations. The Production Chef will also be responsible for monitoring daily food production to support forecasting and budget management, ensuring sustainable and cost-effective kitchen operations.
The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of the Church and possess a good understanding of its teachings. This role is categorized as Emergency Essential, which requires the employee to report to work during campus closures if scheduled or if notified before their shift begins. The University of St. Thomas embraces diversity and inclusivity, offering a rich benefits program including tuition remission, comprehensive health coverage, retirement contributions, paid parental leave, and fully paid insurance.
