Job Description
The View is New York City's only revolving restaurant, bar, and lounge, offering an unparalleled dining and entertainment experience in the heart of the vibrant Theater District. Since 2025, The View has been proudly operated by Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), following a complete renovation by the renowned Rockwell Group. This iconic venue beautifully evokes the lively energy and glamor of historic New York nightlife, inspired by classic American supper clubs that defined an era. Spanning two floors, The View seamlessly combines a lively bar scene with a full-service dining room, all while providing guests with mesmerizing panoramic skyline views that enhance the theatrical ambiance of this dynamic neighborhood.
The Production Barback position at The View plays a vital role in sustaining the high standards of hospitality and service that make this venue a destination for both locals and tourists. As a Production Barback, you will serve as a key partner to the Bar and Service teams, ensuring that bartenders and servers have the tools, ingredients, and support they need to create memorable and enjoyable moments for guests. This role is integral to preserving the smooth operation of the bar area by maintaining its cleanliness, organization, and stock levels. The Production Barback contributes directly to the uplifting culture of Enlightened Hospitality that USHG champions by supporting team members and communicating efficiently across departments.
This employment opportunity is a full-time, hourly role with a competitive pay rate of $30 per hour. Union Square Hospitality Group places significant emphasis on nurturing a work environment rooted in care, creativity, and professional growth. Working at The View means joining a culture that encourages inclusion and teamwork, where every staff member is valued and supported. The position also comes with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, a matched 401(k) plan, life insurance, employee assistance programs, wellness services, as well as various employee relief and convenience programs.
In the role, typical responsibilities include stocking the bar with essential products, preparing garnishes and mixers, maintaining the cleanliness of work and seating areas, and following service protocols with efficiency and grace. The Production Barback also communicates proactively with management, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure seamless service flow. This position requires physical stamina for prolonged standing or walking, the ability to carry multiple items, and strength to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds. English fluency is required, and proficiency in additional languages is preferred but not mandatory.
Union Square Hospitality Group is committed to fostering a workplace based on six core behaviors that define how employees engage with one another and their guests—ranging from playing to win with humble swagger to always seeking excellence, embracing learning opportunities, practicing generosity, and leaving a positive impact. While this job description outlines the primary expectations, the role may encompass additional duties as needed to support the ongoing success and evolving needs of the business. Joining The View means becoming a part of a prestigious hospitality institution that values enlightened service and aims to provide exceptional experiences that resonate with the spirit of New York City nightlife.
