The Baker 2 position at Salt & Straw is an intermediate role within the Bake team, extending beyond the responsibilities of a Baker 1. This role focuses on producing high-quality inclusions, variegates, and other mix-ins used in the company's signature ice cream flavors. The Baker 2 team member follows detailed recipes provided by the Research & Development team, adhering closely to the daily production schedule to ensure accuracy, consistency, and strict food safety compliance. In this role, the team member takes ownership of daily projects by organizing ingredients, planning task sequences, and managing workflow effectively to achieve smooth production operations that meet Salt & Straw's exacting quality standards. Key responsibilities include precise measurement and portioning of ingredients, operating baking equipment, maintaining sanitation and allergen-handling procedures, documenting production data accurately, and supporting junior team members by demonstrating tasks and techniques as needed. This role demands keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a commitment to food safety and product quality. Salt & Straw offers a competitive hourly wage range of $19.55 to $20.86 for this position, with opportunity to earn up to $23.90, reflecting the importance and skill level of the role. The company also emphasizes a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, offering various benefits and career development opportunities. This position requires working in an environment with common food allergens and the presence of x-ray machines, so candidates should be mindful of these considerations. Salt & Straw is an equal employment opportunity employer, committed to providing a welcoming and accessible work environment for all individuals.
