The role of the Now Baking Baker at Starbucks Reserve Kitchen is an integral position that supports the daily operations in these culinary hubs. The Baker is responsible for assisting Lead Bakers and the baking team with the preparation, production planning, and execution of bakery items in adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards. This position requires a passion for the culinary arts, specifically baking, and the desire to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment where consistent quality and productivity are paramount. Partners in this role perform tasks ranging from scaling recipes, dough preparation, shaping, proofing, and baking various bakery products.

This role is suited for individuals who have at least one year of professional baking experience preferably in a commercial kitchen setting, possess strong knife skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn and grow within a well-respected company that values its partners. The position requires physical stamina including the ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderately heavy weights, and work efficiently under time constraints while maintaining high standards. Beyond the hands-on baking tasks, this role also entails maintaining proper documentation such as temperature logs and lot tracking sheets in compliance with health and safety protocols.

Job Duties

  • Works under supervision while preparing designated bakery items per established recipes
  • supports daily production lists and maintains Reserve and Starbucks Gold Standard
  • receives ingredients and other supplies from main kitchen and/or pantry as required for daily operations
  • cuts and weighs dough into uniform portions with knife or divider, molds dough into loaves or other shapes, and places in pans
  • proofs dough
  • shapes dough either by hand or by using dough rollers
  • scaling recipes for production
  • familiar with using gram/kilogram scales and units of measure
  • maintains lot tracking sheets and HACCP temp logs as necessary
  • performs other duties as assigned by their leader in support of the kitchen
