Job Description
Mikiko Mochi Donuts is a Portland-based specialty bakery renowned for its unique mochi donuts, a delightful twist on traditional donuts that combines the chewy texture of mochi with the classic sweet flavors customers love. With a strong local following and a recent expansion to Portland International Airport as a retail-only outlet, Mikiko Mochi Donuts focuses on delivering fresh, high-quality products while accommodating various dietary needs, including gluten-free options and allergen awareness. The company operates a dedicated gluten-free kitchen in Tualatin, Oregon, where their donuts are crafted daily, ensuring strict food safety and quality standards are upheld. This dedication to quality and inclusivity has made Mikiko Mochi Donuts a beloved brand in the Portland area, known for both innovation and delicious taste.
The Production Baker role is essential to supporting the airport location by being based in the production kitchen in Tualatin. This position is focused on preparing, baking, glazing, packaging, and labeling mochi donuts to meet the high aesthetic and quality standards customers expect. The role requires evening production shifts from 6 pm to 2 am, with immediate needs primarily on Monday through Wednesday, though there is flexibility to adjust days and start times. Whether part-time or full-time, candidates can expect to work between three to five shifts weekly. Compensation ranges from $20 to $22 per hour, depending on experience.
A successful candidate for Mikiko Mochi Donuts must be comfortable working in a high-volume bakery environment, demonstrating reliability, detail orientation, and the ability to manage physical tasks such as lifting 50 pounds. Given the company's focus on dietary restrictions and allergen awareness, familiarity with food safety practices and gluten-free baking is a significant plus, though training is provided for those with relevant kitchen or bakery experience. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are mandatory, as the production kitchen is located in Tualatin and not easily accessible by public transit. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing local business with a unique product offering and a commitment to quality and inclusivity.
