The company operates multiple retail locations as well as a central production kitchen, the Central Kitchen of Oregon (CKOR), which serves as the heart of its production efforts. The role requires strict adherence to recipe specifications provided by the Research & Development team and involves managing multiple daily projects, ensuring smooth production flow while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and product quality. Production Baker II team members are expected to take full ownership of their assigned tasks from start to finish, supporting efficient production cycles and collaborating effectively across Bake, Spin, and Production teams.

Working at Salt & Straw means embracing a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and communication are essential. This role offers not only competitive pay, with hourly wages starting at $19.60 and potential growth up to $23.95 as experience increases, but also comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, paid holidays, and opportunities for career development and tuition assistance. Employees are also eligible for a 401(k) plan with company match and enjoy discounts on artisanal ice cream and merchandise.

In addition to technical baking assignments, the Production Baker II aids in maintaining a clean and organized workspace, follows good manufacturing practices, and assists with end-of-day production tasks. They are responsible for accurate documentation, including ingredient tracking sheets and production data entry into the company’s NetSuite system. The role demands proficiency in operating various commercial kitchen and baking equipment and requires team members to work reliably in refrigerated and freezer environments while handling food allergens responsibly.
