The Mechanical Assembler role at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a key position within the manufacturing team. This role involves assembling mechanical units, fabricated parts/components, and electrical/electronic systems to produce subassemblies, assemblies, or complete units. The assembler will utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, jigs, and fixtures to ensure parts are properly fit, aligned, calibrated, and adjusted to meet strict tolerances and product operating requirements. This role also includes repairing units or products that do not meet specifications, maintaining production records, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
This position is suitable for candidates with little to no prior relevant experience, working under close supervision, following clearly defined methods and detailed instructions. As a Mechanical Assembler, the employee will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s manufacturing goals by performing manual tasks according to established procedures, ensuring product quality, and contributing to operational efficiency. The role demands physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 45 pounds, and the flexibility to work different shifts as required.
The employment type is full-time, and the salary range for this position is between $42,900 and $58,000 per year. Additional compensation opportunities include participation in the company’s Gain Sharing Program. Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required
- 0-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
- Ability to remain stationary at a desk or computer for extended periods
- Regular movement throughout facilities
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
- May need to stand for long periods
- Work in varying indoor/outdoor climates and operate machinery
- Flexibility to work different shifts
- This position is safety-sensitive
- No or very little travel
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
- Vocational/Technical training degree preferred
- Knowledge of assembly, calibration, component installation, soldering, troubleshooting, and functional testing
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to lift/move heavy objects
- Physical stamina
