Job Description
Atlas Air Worldwide is a prominent global aviation company specializing in outsourced aviation logistics, cargo, passenger, and aircraft leasing operations that span more than 70 countries worldwide. Established with over 30 years of industry experience, Atlas Air Worldwide operates a modern all-Boeing fleet and employs nearly 5,000 dedicated team members across various operational, technical, and corporate sectors. The company is renowned for its commitment to safety, service excellence, integrity, innovation, teamwork, and responsibility, which collectively form the foundation of its corporate culture and operational principles. By leveraging advanced technologies and a people-centric approach, Atlas Air Worldwide continues to drive efficiency and reliability in the highly competitive aviation logistics market.
The role of Product Director at Atlas Air Worldwide is a specialized leadership position that plays a critical part in aligning the company’s product initiatives with business objectives and customer needs. As the Product Director, you will be accountable for defining and steering the strategic roadmap for complex product ecosystems within the organization. You will act as the voice of the customer and end-user, ensuring that the product delivers tangible value while meeting performance, reliability, and security standards. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including stakeholders, technical leads, executives, and external partners to guide the lifecycle and evolution of products from conception through delivery and optimization.
In this capacity, the Product Director is required not only to develop and implement product strategies but also to manage prioritization of initiatives balancing new features, maintenance, and technical debt to maintain sustainability. An important element of the role is senior stakeholder engagement which includes partnering with customers, vendors, and internal executives to secure alignment and support for product goals. Financial acumen is essential as the role may entail managing product-related profit and loss responsibilities. Furthermore, the Product Director will play a leadership role in nurturing an engineering culture and adaptive human-centric work methodologies alongside other senior leaders.
Candidates best suited for this role will have a minimum of seven years in product management with substantive experience overseeing complex enterprise-level programs or products, coupled with a broad base of over fifteen years in roles such as business analysis, project management, or agile delivery. Experience working with aviation maintenance and engineering systems, especially MRO platforms like TRAX, will be highly advantageous. Proficiency with ERP or enterprise platform management, automated continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) software development lifecycles, and a background in airlines or logistics sectors are considered beneficial.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced influencer and communicator with strong storytelling abilities and workshop facilitation skills within complex, politically sensitive corporate environments. Adaptability, critical thinking, self-motivation, team orientation, and mentoring capabilities are key personal attributes that will drive success in this demanding but rewarding role. The position entails a dynamic work pace and the need for regular domestic travel, with occasional international travel requirements. Overall, joining Atlas Air Worldwide as a Product Director means becoming part of a pioneering team dedicated to lifting more than cargo—they lift ambition.
