With a commitment rooted in core values such as safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation, Raytheon delivers cutting-edge technology and services that ensure a safer and more secure world. RTX operates in various sectors including aerospace systems, defense technologies, and manufacturing, serving government and commercial customers worldwide. This position is located in Tucson, Arizona, within a dedicated facility focused on critical hardware engineering and production readiness. The role offered is onsite, requiring U.S. citizenship and an active security clearance, with a salary range between $68,900 and $131,100, reflective of experience and qualifications.

The Product Development Engineer (PDE) Associate will be a pivotal member of the Hardware Engineering Team within the Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department. This team is essential in ensuring that electronic hardware products are designed and developed with comprehensive consideration of their entire production lifecycle, including manufacturability, assembly, scalability, cost management, and quality assurance. The PDE Associate role is uniquely positioned to influence the success of complex projects by acting as the technical liaison between Raytheon, PCB (Printed Circuit Boards), and CCA (Circuit Card Assemblies) suppliers. Responsibilities encompass driving procurement and build schedules to meet stringent program timelines, addressing supplier technical questions, and overseeing quality controls such as panel reviews and third-party screening processes.

This role demands a candidate who is not only technically proficient in electronic hardware design and manufacturing processes but also adept in cross-functional coordination and supplier relationship management. The PDE Associate will be responsible for generating detailed status and yield reports to track project progress and quality metrics and analyzing requests for quotes and proposals to support prototype build expedites. This position requires active involvement in identifying causes behind supplier-related issues and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure product integrity.

Candidates must possess a strong foundation in electronic manufacturing processes, particularly with PCBs and CCAs, and demonstrate effective multi-tasking and project prioritization skills. Furthermore, the PDE Associate will utilize their technical knowledge and communication skills to maintain continuous and effective contact with suppliers, ensuring alignment with the program requirements. Professional growth opportunities abound within this role, given Raytheon's dedication to employee development and its vision of fostering innovation and operational excellence.

The PDE Associate role at Raytheon Technologies offers a unique career path for professionals committed to advancing defense technology while contributing to national security objectives. It provides a dynamic and challenging environment where engineering expertise meets strategic procurement and production readiness initiatives. The position emphasizes compliance with Department of Defense procurement processes and standards, requiring applicants to hold or be eligible to obtain a secret security clearance.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers looking to engage with cutting-edge electronic hardware projects and expand their expertise within a globally respected company that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
