The role of a Research & Development (R&D) Chef at Taylor Farms is a dynamic and technically demanding position that calls for a high level of culinary expertise. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and cuisines, effectively utilizing this knowledge to develop innovative food products. As an R&D Chef, you will lead multiple workstreams concurrently, offering culinary expertise that drives concept creation and product development from ideation all the way through to manufacturing. The position demands meticulous documentation of all tests and analytical data, continuous monitoring of food trends, manufacturing processes, and culinary innovations to ensure the team remains at the cutting edge. You will be instrumental in maintaining project scope, developing products within cost targets, and facilitating product tastings and plant trials. Additionally, this role requires managing project timelines, preparing samples for stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with Taylor Farms’ standard operating procedures for kitchen operations.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of culinary or related degree/certificate program or equivalent experience
  • 3-6 years of experience in CPG product development
  • knowledge of and adherence to food safety standards
  • possession of a current Food Handlers card or ServSafe certification

Job Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of experience in CPG product development after completion of a culinary or related degree/certificate program or equivalent experience

Job Duties

  • Manage several workstreams simultaneously
  • provide culinary expertise in assigned projects through exceptional culinary concept creation and product development
  • participate actively in all stages of product development from ideation to manufacturing
  • meticulously record all tests and pertinent analytical information
  • monitor and research food trends, manufacturing processes, and culinary innovations
  • ensure project scope guard rails are maintained and product formulas are approved by commercialization team
  • calculate ingredient costing to develop products within cost targets
  • lead and participate in product tastings and plant trials
  • assist in producing product samples for internal and external stakeholders
  • manage individual project timelines and deliverables
  • ensure the work area is orderly, organized, and clean
  • report weekly project work plans and timelines to Culinary Director
