The role of a Produce Team Member at Whole Foods Market is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of produce quality and customer service that the company is known for. As a member of the Produce team, the individual will be responsible for receiving and preparing produce products, maintaining displays and the produce sales floor, and actively engaging customers with excellent service. This position requires a hands-on approach to breaking down deliveries, stocking shelves, and ensuring fresh and appealing product presentations by front-facing, checking codes, rotating stock, and removing expired items. The Produce Team Member supports the Team Leader in organizing volume and seasonal items, monitors product quality to prevent spoilage, and completes necessary documentation such as spoilage, sampling, and temperature logs. Furthermore, this role involves participating in periodic inventory checks and conducting opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned. Physical stamina and a proactive attitude are important, as the work involves frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using various tools and equipment such as knives and electric pallet jacks.

Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • ability to perform hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products
  • assist Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • monitor and prevent spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor
  • complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
  • assist with periodic inventory checks
  • arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follow and comply with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment and maintain equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
  • perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned including ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing
  • immediately report safety hazards and violations
  • perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
