Job Description
Nestle Purina is a world-renowned pet care company with a long-standing tradition of excellence in the pet food manufacturing industry. Established over 120 years ago, Nestle Purina has grown into a leader in pet nutrition, committed to crafting high-quality products that improve the lives of pets and their owners. The company prides itself on being driven by integrity and united by the undeniable bond between people and pets. Nestle Purina's mission centers around creating innovative and sustainable pet care solutions, while fostering a work environment that values safety, inclusivity, and career growth. With a culture deeply rooted in safety and quality, Nestle Purina continues to push the boundaries of pet care, building a future where both pets and people thrive.
Nestle Purina's Denver facility stands as a pivotal part of this legacy, not only because of its strategic mile-high city location—known for its dog-friendly environment and natural beauty—but also due to its historical significance as the first pet food factory to adopt solar energy. Since operating in Denver since 1930, the plant has evolved from producing livestock feed to dedicating its efforts solely to pet food manufacturing. The facility emphasizes sustainability with initiatives such as water conservation, renewable electricity investments, and maintaining zero waste for disposal. This plant produces over 260,000 tons annually of some of the most recognized pet food brands including Dog Chow, Cat Chow, Kit n Kaboodle, Alpo, Beneful, Nestle Purina ONE, and Pro Plan.
The Production Operator role at Nestle Purina's Denver plant is essential for maintaining the high standards of quality and safety. This position is designed as an entry point for future production-based operator roles in various departments such as Unloading, Dry Pet Processing, and Dry Pet Packing. Operators are extensively trained to safely and efficiently operate different types of production equipment and machinery. This role offers competitive hourly pay, starting at $29.53 during the initial probationary period and increasing to $35.65 post-probation, reflecting the company's commitment to rewarding skilled work and dedication.
The Production Operator supports critical operations including running unloading, processing, and packing equipment, troubleshooting issues, performing preventative maintenance, and keeping detailed equipment inspection records. Operators also play a key role in fostering communication between departments to ensure smooth workflows, safety adherence, and top-notch production output. Additionally, forklift operation is part of the job duties, further expanding the scope of skills employees develop at this facility.
Nestle Purina values diversity and inclusivity in its workforce. They actively encourage veterans, separated service members, and individuals with disabilities to apply, recognizing how the skills gained in diverse life experiences align with the company's core values and operational excellence. The company offers a robust benefits package including healthcare, dental insurance, 401k with company match, performance-based incentives, paid time off, and many more perks aimed at supporting employees' well-being and career progression.
At Nestle Purina, employees find more than just a job—they find a community that's Proudly Connected and Purely Driven, where their passion for pets fuels their purpose. The Production Operator role is an excellent opportunity for those looking to start or continue a career in manufacturing within a supportive, innovative, and growth-oriented environment that puts safety and quality first.
