Job Description
Nestle Purina is a globally recognized leader in the pet care industry, with a proud heritage of over 120 years dedicated to the well-being of pets and the satisfaction of pet owners. The company harnesses its longstanding tradition of excellence to push boundaries and innovate continuously in pet food manufacturing. Rooted in integrity and driven by a sense of purpose, Nestle Purina fosters a culture centered around the powerful bond between people and their pets, uniting its teams to pursue the highest standards and unparalleled quality in their products and processes.
Nestle Purina's Denver facility, a key cornerstone of its operations since 1930, stands out not only because of its rich history but also through its commitment to sustainability and the environment. Initially established to produce livestock feed, the Denver plant transitioned exclusively to pet food manufacturing in 1972. This site prides itself on being the first pet food factory to utilize solar energy, showcasing the company’s dedication to renewable power, water conservation, and achieving zero waste for disposal. The Denver plant produces over 260,000 tons annually of beloved brands such as Dog Chow, Cat Chow, Kit n Kaboodle, Alpo, Beneful, Nestle Purina ONE Beyond, Nestle Purina ONE, and Pro Plan. Located in one of Forbes' 'Best cities for dogs 2024,' the Denver plant offers a strong community presence and a work environment enriched by the city’s dynamic culture and natural beauty.
This role as a Production Operator within the Denver facility offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about quality, safety, and operational excellence. As a vital contributor to the manufacturing process, Production Operators are the essential feeder group for various operator roles across unloading, dry pet processing, and dry pet packing departments. This position calls for candidates interested in hands-on operation of production equipment, troubleshooting, and maintaining production flow with a keen focus on safety and zero-defect output.
Newly hired Production Operators undergo rigorous training to master operating specialized machinery safely and efficiently. After this initial period, operators are placed in specialized roles such as Extruder Operator, Utility Operator, or Packing Operator to ensure smooth production lines and quality assurance. The company’s emphasis on teamwork and interdepartmental collaboration fosters an environment where operators work collectively to uphold safety protocols, ensure quality standards, and maintain seamless production schedules. Moreover, forklift operation skills are valued and often required to support loading and unloading tasks.
The position offers competitive compensation starting at $29.53 per hour during the probationary period, increasing to $35.65 per hour upon successful completion of probation. Nestle Purina committedly provides job security, comprehensive benefits, and numerous career growth opportunities, making it an employer of choice for many in the manufacturing sector. Embracing a 'safety first' philosophy, the company prioritizes a zero-defect and zero-waste approach, underscoring its dedication to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
Joining Nestle Purina means being part of an inclusive and diverse team that values flexibility, agility, and leadership, notably welcoming veterans and individuals with disabilities to contribute their unique skills to the company’s mission. Nestle Purina stands firm as an equal employment opportunity employer, offering confidentiality and accommodations for applicants throughout the recruitment process. Candidates seeking a collaborative, innovative, and fulfilling role in pet food production will find a meaningful career path with Nestle Purina in Denver, Colorado.
