The role of Process Technician at Freudenberg Medical is a pivotal position focused on supporting injection molding operations with a strong emphasis on tooling performance, hot runner systems, mold troubleshooting, process stability, and production efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, experienced technician who acts as a key technical resource for production teams, tooling personnel, maintenance, engineering, and quality departments. Responsibilities include setting up, starting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing injection molding processes to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable production workflows.

The Process Technician will be expected to identify and resolve various molding defects such as flash, short shots, burns, splay, sink marks, voids, dimensional variations, contamination, gate issues, and cosmetic defects by applying advanced knowledge of molds, tooling construction, mold alignment, parting lines, venting, gate conditions, ejector systems, and wear-related tooling issues. Troubleshooting hot runner systems including heaters, thermocouples, nozzles, manifolds, temperature controllers, wiring, and connectors forms a core aspect of the role.

Collaboration with process engineering, tooling, maintenance, and quality teams to diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions is essential to maintain process integrity and product quality. Additionally, the Process Technician will support mold trials, process development, process transfers, and production start-ups for both new and existing molded components, ensuring seamless transitions and sustained operational excellence.

This position is ideal for individuals with a minimum of two years’ experience in injection molding processes for thermoplastics and a solid understanding of scientific process development principles. The role also requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Word and Excel, to document and analyze process data effectively. While a high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, candidates with additional engineering education or medical device manufacturing experience are preferred, especially those familiar with working in cleanroom environments.
