The PRN (As Needed) Travel Chef Manager is a critical leadership role designed for a highly skilled culinary professional who can provide versatile support across various food service operations. This position involves stepping into culinary leadership roles temporarily to oversee smooth operations during vacancies, transitions, openings, training sessions, and performance improvement initiatives. The role requires someone who is not only well-versed in maintaining culinary standards and delivering resident-centered dining experiences but also excels in team development and operational stability. The Travel Chef Manager will be responsible for ensuring consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation while adhering to company recipes and guidelines. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require travel between locations, occasional overnight stays depending on the distance and operational needs. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of progressive culinary leadership experience, preferably with backgrounds in multi-unit, hotel, resort, or contract dining settings. They must possess a strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food cost control, and labor management alongside the ability to lead teams effectively under pressure. Compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards is paramount, as is the ability to prepare kitchens for inspections and internal audits. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work as a PRN (as needed) travel chef manager
  • Willingness to travel between locations and stay overnight as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in varying kitchen environments
  • Strong adaptability and problem-solving skills
  • Valid ODH Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive culinary leadership experience
  • Previous Sous Chef or Chef Manager experience
  • Multi-unit, hotel, resort, or contract dining experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food cost control, and labor management
  • Proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments
  • ODH Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Opening team experience preferred
  • Experience in turnaround or recovery environments preferred
  • Corporate or branded concept experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide interim culinary leadership at assigned locations
  • Execute and maintain company culinary standards, resident-centered dining experience, recipes, and presentation guidelines
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and execution across deployments
  • Stabilize kitchens during leadership gaps, openings, renovations, or relaunches
  • Reinforce proper cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Assist in onboarding and training new culinary staff
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, company policies, and sanitation standards
  • Maintain readiness for inspections and internal audits
