The role of Housekeeper I at UnityPoint Health is a vital support service position within the Environmental Services Department focusing on maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic hospital environment. This temporary position, working mid-day shifts from 2 pm to 10:30 pm on a 32-hour workweek basis with every other weekend rotation, offers the potential for increased hours after a 90-day period contingent upon performance, attendance, and the operational needs of the business. The Housekeeper is responsible for performing scheduled cleanings and responding promptly to spills and emergencies, ensuring all tasks adhere to strict Medicare, Medicaid, and infection control standards. Key duties also include safe waste disposal and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
This position plays a critical role in supporting patient safety by adhering to vaccination protocols, infection control, and hospital compliance standards, ensuring the healthcare environment is professionally maintained for patients, visitors, and staff alike. Interactions with all hospital stakeholders must be courteous and professional, contributing positively to the overall patient experience and hospital operations. Job Requirements
- must be at least 18 years old
- able to work mid-day shifts from 2 pm to 10:30 pm
- available for every other weekend rotation
- capable of performing physical housekeeping tasks
- willingness to comply with healthcare vaccination and infection control policies
- strong communication skills
- able to complete required training
